Fire Academy
The Eastern Idaho Fire Academy is a partnership between EITC and over 35 paid and volunteer fire departments located throughout eastern Idaho. Regional fire chiefs established the Academy to provide both hands-on and classroom training activities to support rural fire departments with limited training budgets. Typically, over 150 firefigthers from throughout southeastern Idaho attend the Academy to participate in emergency services training classes designed to upgrade their firefighting skills. Both structural and wildland firefighters attend the annual conference.
The Academy gives firefighters the opportunity to practice “real world” training exercises and scenarios that will help them better protect residents and their property when disasters occur in the region.”
In addition to paid and volunteer fire departments from southeastern Idaho area, federal agencies such as the Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service send representatives to assist in conducting training classes and to attend workshops.
